A gentle refinement of a turntable that has been evolving for fifty years.
About the project
For Linn’s fiftieth anniversary, LoveFrom collaborated on a limited edition of the Sondek LP12. The relationship began after Jony Ive approached Linn CEO Gilad Tiefenbrun in 2022, expressing his admiration for the company and its approach to sound.
LoveFrom refined the visual and tactile interfaces, including a precision-machined aluminium power and speed button and new hinges. The work respects the recognisable proportions of the original turntable, improving the points a listener touches rather than replacing its identity.
Linn’s own Bedrok plinth technology uses compressed layers of beech to create a dense, low-resonance structure. The edition was limited to 250 numbered examples, in natural wood or painted white, each with an aluminium plaque identifying its number and builder. The distinction matters: LoveFrom’s industrial design and Linn’s acoustic engineering are complementary contributions.
