Jony Ive’s projects after Apple
What did Jony Ive design after leaving Apple? LoveFrom’s documented work spans typefaces, public emblems, books, clothing and objects. This guide connects a selection of those projects and the sources behind them.

From Apple to LoveFrom
Apple announced on 27 June 2019 that Ive would leave his role as an employee later that year to establish an independent design company, with Apple among its clients. That announcement is a useful starting point: leaving Apple did not initially mean ending every working relationship with it. Read Apple’s original announcement.
LoveFrom, founded in 2019 by Ive with Marc Newson, is a creative collective. The projects here should be understood as collaborative work, with client teams and named specialists contributing alongside the studio. The archive preserves those distinctions wherever the published credits allow it.
2021 · Typography
LoveFrom, Serif
Typography gives the collective a visual voice. LoveFrom Serif draws on John Baskerville’s letterforms, but its development involved a contemporary family of weights, italics and optical adjustments. The project is also a reminder that the studio’s identity is collaborative: the archive records the contributions of Peter Saville, Chris Wilson, Antonio Cavedoni and Patch Kessler. Follow its later applications in the emblems and publications below.

2021 · Identity
Terra Carta
The Terra Carta seal brings together lettering and imagery for a sustainability initiative. It offers an early example of LoveFrom applying detailed graphic design to a public-facing commission. Seen alongside the studio’s typeface, it helps explain why an archive of this period needs to include marks and printed matter as well as manufactured objects.
2023 · Identity
The Coronation Emblem
For the 2023 coronation, the flowers of the United Kingdom’s four nations form St Edward’s Crown. Buckingham Palace explicitly credits Jony Ive and LoveFrom. The commission joins symbolic meaning with the practical demands of an identity reproduced across celebrations, publications, merchandise and digital media. Its authorship is documented by the Royal Household rather than inferred from a visual resemblance.
2023 · Books
Make Something Wonderful
The Steve Jobs Archive publication brings the story close to Apple without being an Apple product. LoveFrom’s contribution is recorded in the project’s design credits. Read it alongside the typography entry: a type family becomes part of an extended reading experience, where spacing, hierarchy and the physical or digital format matter as much as the cover.
2023 · Music
Sondek LP12-50
For Linn’s fiftieth anniversary, LoveFrom worked on the visual and tactile details of a limited-edition Sondek LP12. The power and speed button and the hinges are small interventions in a recognisable product. Linn’s acoustic engineering remains a distinct contribution. This is a useful case study in refining an established object through its points of contact rather than replacing its identity.
2024 · Clothing
LoveFrom, Moncler
The 2024 Moncler collaboration translates product design into a modular wardrobe. A core connects to outer garments through the magnetic Duo button. The fastener links the experience of dressing to the mechanics of assembly, while the collection extends into labels, packaging and care instructions. The archive separates this first collection from subsequent Moncler work so the individual releases remain clear.
2025 · Objects
Sailing Lantern
Developed with Balmuda and announced in 2025, Sailing Lantern applies that attention to handling to a portable light. Its maritime references, protective frame and polished body connect a familiar object to a new manufacturing collaboration. The project page records announcement and shipping information separately, together with materials, edition details and the manufacturer’s documentation.
Reading the archive carefully
Dates generally identify public announcements or debuts, which may differ from development and delivery dates. The (RED) Diamond Ring is a particularly useful boundary case: conceived in 2018 and completed in 2019, it appears as a precursor, not as evidence of a new post-Apple LoveFrom commission.
This is a selection, not a complete account of every private commission. Browse the full project archive for later work, including Christie’s rostrum and Ferrari Luce. Announced partnerships and contributions that need more context are kept in the research notes. Each project record links to its evidence, with photography credits and scope notes available on the page.
